PALATY X MYTH
The MYTH Gallery of Contemporary Art and the Palaty concept store present a capsule collection of interior items designed in collaboration with contemporary Russian artists: Ludmila Baronina, Alina Glazun, and Uliana Podkorytova.
Ulyana Podkorytova's artistic practice is focused on working with internal mythology, Internet folklore, and ethnography of the Russian North. Her "shrew dog" bench is made of oak planks and features wheat-colored horsehair and molded claw feet. The bench serves as a kind of support animal, bringing joy to its owner and making him the center of attention.
When creating an image for her object, Alina Glazun was guided by the semantics of the word "bedspread" - it is intended to cover or envelop something. The moon surrounded by golden stars is inspired by medieval book miniatures, where celestial bodies were often depicted with faces. Its eyes are open even at night to guard and protect the one who sleeps.
The "Pastoral" image on Lyudmila Baronina's folding screen was created during quarantine when everyone wanted to break free from the limitations and enjoy peace.
The goal of this collaboration was to create unique objects based on the philosophy and imagery of each artist. It was important for us to demonstrate a high level of artistic detail while maintaining the object's utility, combining a commitment to exclusive design and contemporary art.
