Natasha Kosovets is a textile artist. She graduated from the Stavropol Art College and the Kuban State University with a degree in graphic arts. After completing her studies, she worked as a graphic designer, dedicating her free time to textile art. Over time, textile became her main profession. She works using needle punching (felting) technique, where the bottom layer of fabric is punched through the top layer with a special needle with barbs, causing fibers to intermix and form a unified canvas. In her work, she typically uses waste materials from curtain and drapery production. To achieve the desired texture, she combines organza, wool, silk, and hand-dyed fabrics and fibers.
«Often, memories of landscapes and childhood experiences are clearer to us than recent events. However, time influences both the landscape and our perception of it. I try to find a connection between the landscape, memory, and the subconscious. Textile creates texture and tactile sensations; it allows me not just to depict but to evoke feelings and memories. The power of elements like wind, rain, and sea is translated into layers of fabric. The colors and textures of fibers intertwine; tones visually blend to create a dynamic, lively surface. This is not an attempt to replicate reality but an expression of emotions through color and form».
